Aggies get chance to step into spotlight in NCAAs
By Bud L. Ellis
Playing in the same conference as national powers Kansas and Texas, it’s easy to overlook what the Texas A&M Aggies accomplished this season.
But in the NCAA tournament, all that good work the Aggies have done this season will be on display for all to see.
The Aggies won 24 games this season, reaching the Big 12 Conference semifinals before falling to Texas. The NCAAs open for the Aggies on Friday in Chicago against Florida State.
Texas A&M comes in as a No. 7 seed, meaning with a victory the Aggies likely will be staring at No. 2 seed Notre Dame in the next round. But the Aggies won’t be intimidated against anybody they play, having slugged it out with the Jayhawks, Longhorns and Kansas State – all ranked teams – in the Big 12 this season.
The Aggies enter the NCAAs having won seven of their past 10.
